Campinas Pushes for R$3 Billion AI Supercomputer With Public-Private Partnership
Campinas is advocating for a R$3 billion supercomputer, with 30% capacity allocated to the government and 70% to the private sector. This initiative aims to enhance research in artificial intelligence, climate modeling, and drug development.
Campinas has intensified efforts to acquire a R$3 billion supercomputer, which will be funded by the federal government. The supercomputer is intended for research in artificial intelligence, climate forecasting, and complex simulations, with 30% of its capacity reserved for governmental use and 70% for private sector applications.
The proposed installation site is the CTI Renato Archer, chosen for its existing infrastructure and proximity to the CNPEM. This project is part of Brazil's broader Plan for Artificial Intelligence (PBIA) and aims to position the country among the top five globally in computational power by 2028. The region's innovation ecosystem and skilled workforce in technology and engineering further support this initiative, which is expected to drive significant advancements in multiple scientific fields.
