The Canadian government is committing $10.6 million for 14 projects to install over 1,600 electric vehicle chargers across the country. An additional $1.1 million will support Plug'n Drive's cross-country EV test drive tour aimed at promoting electric vehicle adoption in smaller and medium-sized communities.
This funding follows over $1.2 billion invested since 2016 in EV charging and hydrogen refuelling stations. Furthermore, a $5,000 federal rebate applies to electric vehicles below $50,000, and a new tariff policy will allow for the import of Chinese EVs, capped at 49,000 annually. These initiatives indicate a significant push toward enhancing electric mobility infrastructure in Canada.
