Cape Cod Gas Pipeline Relocation for Bridge Project Estimated at $301 Million
A $301 million initiative to relocate gas lines for the Cape Cod bridges rebuild is set to commence in January 2027. The project entails extensive pipeline installation and removal of existing lines to accommodate new bridge construction, impacting local infrastructure and energy delivery.

The Cape Cod bridges project, valued at $301 million, involves relocating over six miles of natural gas pipelines. Work on the new pipeline is scheduled to start in January 2027, with completion aligned with the Sagamore Bridge construction set for winter 2027-28.
Enbridge will utilize horizontal directional drilling under the Cape Cod Canal, which will minimize noise and disruption. The project's total mileage includes 6.3 miles of construction, with the existing gaslines needing removal.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's environmental assessment is expected by April 17, with a final approval deadline of July 16. This initiative is critical to ensure the infrastructure supports energy needs as bridge replacements proceed.
