Captain Issova Sono Séraphine Appointed to Lead Limbe Naval Base in Cameroon
Captain Issova Sono Séraphine has been appointed as the first female commander of the Limbe Naval Base in Cameroon, marking a significant milestone for gender inclusion in the military. This appointment underlines the strategic importance of the base in enhancing maritime security along the Gulf of Guinea.

In a historic move, President Paul Biya appointed Captain Issova Sono Séraphine as the first woman to command the Limbe Naval Base. This base is critical for securing Cameroon's coastline and addressing piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
Born in 1972, she graduated from the Inter-Army Military School in 1998, joining the Navy General Staff in 2000. Her qualifications include the Unit Commanders Course, Staff Certificate, and Advanced Staff Diploma.
Prior to this role, she led the Naval Application School and the Marine Fusiliers Training Center. This appointment represents a significant advancement in professional military leadership and gender representation in the armed forces.
