Chevron and Israel Natural Gas Lines Sign $610M Deal for Nitzana Subsea Pipeline Expansion
In September 2025, Chevron and Israel Natural Gas Lines (INGL) finalized a $610 million agreement to construct the Nitzana subsea pipeline, which will double the export capacity of natural gas from Israel's Leviathan field to Egypt. The 65-kilometre pipeline, connecting Ramat Hovav to the Nitzana border, is projected to be operational by 2028, with construction expected to commence in Q4 2025.
Initially, it will transport 600 million cubic feet of gas daily, with future capacity expansion to 2.2 billion cubic feet per day planned. This project is part of a 15-year, $35 billion natural gas supply deal with Egypt's Blue Ocean Energy, addressing Egypt's energy needs amid declining local production. The pipeline aims to enhance Egypt's LNG export capabilities by supplying approximately 130 billion cubic meters of gas over the contract period, contributing to regional energy security and creating job opportunities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
