Chhattisgarh Launches Rs 119-Crore Lift Irrigation Project in Jashpur District
Chhattisgarh has commenced construction on a Rs 119-crore lift irrigation project aimed at irrigating 4,933 hectares across 13 villages. This initiative, under the SAMRIDHI-M-CAD scheme, seeks to modernize irrigation practices and improve agricultural productivity in the region.

Construction on a Rs 119-crore lift irrigation project began in Jashpur district, providing irrigation to 4,933 hectares of land across 13 villages. The project will replace traditional canals with an underground pressurised pipeline system, enhancing water-use efficiency and eliminating land acquisition needs.
Funded under the SAMRIDHI-M-CAD scheme, the project has received Rs 95.89 crore from the Centre and is expected to be completed within six months. Operation and maintenance will initially be managed by a contractor for five years, transitioning to a Water Users' Committee thereafter. The implementation of modern technologies, including solar power and IoT, aims to optimize water management and bolster agricultural resilience against climate risks.
