Chiyoda Steel to Launch Japan's First Endless Casting and Rolling Line for Rebar
Chiyoda Steel Industry is set to initiate Japan's first endless casting and rolling operation for rebar by August. This development enhances energy efficiency and aims for zero direct carbon emissions.

Chiyoda Steel Industry is nearing the completion of its new steelmaking and casting facilities at the Ayase plant in Tokyo, with plans to begin full-scale production of rebar using the endless casting-rolling process by August. The facility will utilize technology from Italian company Danieli, including a new ladle furnace and a single-strand caster, and is designed to produce rebar from liquid steel in under 15 minutes, enhancing productivity and sustainability.
With an annual capacity of 430,000 metric tons for 10-35 mm rebar, this operation will allow for a broader product range and contribute to the green steel supply in Japan. The shift to this innovative process may significantly impact local rebar production dynamics and carbon footprint reduction efforts.
