Chungju City Secures KRW 5.2 Billion for Domestic Hydrogen Pipeline Demonstration Project
Chungju City has been awarded KRW 5.2 billion by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for a Hydrogen Pipeline Domestication and Demonstration Technology Development Testbed project, enhancing its role as a green hydrogen hub. The funding will support the construction of a 2 km hydrogen pipeline network and the verification of domestically produced hydrogen pipeline products, with full-scale demonstrations planned for the second half of 2027. This initiative aims to provide a stable and large-scale hydrogen supply from biogas and ammonia, building on the city's existing hydrogen production infrastructure.

Chungju City has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Hydrogen Pipeline Domestication and Demonstration Technology Development Testbed project, solidifying its status as a green hydrogen hub. The government will invest KRW 5.2 billion to verify the performance of domestically produced hydrogen pipeline products and construct a 2 km hydrogen pipeline network.
This initiative leverages the city's hydrogen demonstration experience and allows direct supply of hydrogen from biogas and ammonia, offering greater stability and large-scale supply compared to conventional methods. The city has established a foundation for hydrogen production through a bio-green hydrogen charging station, regulatory-free zone designation, and facility expansions. Plans include performance verification of hydrogen piping products and full-scale demonstrations scheduled for the second half of 2027.
