Citadines Bacolod City Partners with First Gen Corp for Renewable Energy Supply
In a significant move towards sustainability, Citadines Bacolod City has partnered with Lopez-led First Gen Corporation to harness renewable energy for its operations. This collaboration will supply the hotel with 800 kilowatts of geothermal power, sourced from First Gen's Leyte geothermal plant. Caleb Han, the hotel’s general manager, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it will significantly reduce the hotel's energy intensity and carbon footprint.
With 200 rooms, five amenity areas, multiple food and beverage outlets, and expansive meeting facilities, Citadines Bacolod City stands to benefit immensely from this reliable energy source. The partnership is a vital step in Ascott Limited's commitment to eco-friendly operations, focusing on efficient energy consumption. Arlene Sy Soriano, First Gen’s head of sales and engagement, remarked on the ease with which businesses can transition to renewable energy, highlighting that decarbonization is not only achievable but essential for sustainable growth.
First Gen Corporation, renowned for its extensive geothermal portfolio, operates the largest geothermal capacity in the Philippines, contributing substantially to the country's energy landscape. In addition to Citadines, the company has recently secured a power supply agreement with Unilever Philippines to energize its production and distribution facilities across multiple provinces, further solidifying its stance as a leader in renewable energy solutions. This partnership exemplifies the ongoing shift towards sustainable practices in the hospitality industry and beyond, setting a benchmark for future initiatives.
