City Airport Mannheim marks its centenary on June 6, 2026, with plans to enhance security and sustainability. The airport aims to become a leader in electric aviation and will host events leading up to its anniversary, emphasizing community engagement.

City Airport Mannheim, established on June 6, 1926, is planning significant investments in safety and sustainability as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. The airport recorded approximately 42,000 flight movements recently and aims to lead in electric aviation with ongoing projects for sustainable aviation fuel and electric charging infrastructure.
Over the years, passenger numbers peaked in 2006 at nearly 200,000. Currently, most flights are for private and sports aviation, with awareness of noise concerns due to regional economic dependencies. The upcoming anniversary will feature community events, starting with a movie night on July 4 and a house party on June 13.
