CMA CGM has taken delivery of the CMA CGM Grand Palais, a large dual-fuel LNG container ship with a capacity of 24,000 TEU. Built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, the vessel features a total LNG storage capacity of 18,600 m3 and is equipped with dual-fuel engines from WinGD.
This addition is part of CMA CGM's strategy to invest in various fuel pathways, including LNG and methanol. The company had also recently confirmed an order for six LNG-fueled container ships at Cochin Shipyard in India. While LNG offers advantages, it primarily consists of methane, raising concerns about its greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fuels.
