Colorado Springs Utilities Delays Lane Closures on Austin Bluffs Parkway for Central Bluffs Substation Project
Colorado Springs Utilities has postponed lane closures on Austin Bluffs Parkway, initially set to start Monday, due to the need for additional preparation and inspection for the Central Bluffs Substation Project. This project aims to relocate electric infrastructure by combining two substations and a switch station into one facility.
The first phase will close two westbound lanes from just west of Goldenrod Drive to the Union Boulevard off ramp, with closures now expected to begin later in February and last until March 9. Following this phase, further traffic shifts and lane closures will occur by mid-May, and motorists should anticipate congestion during peak hours. The project is designed to enhance the electric grid's efficiency and is scheduled for completion by January 2027.
