Construction Begins on Dieng Unit 2 Geothermal Power Plant, Operational by March 2028
The Dieng Unit 2 geothermal power plant, with a capacity of 55 MW, is set to commence operations by March 28, 2028. This project, developed by PT Geo Dipa Energi, aims to contribute to Indonesia's energy transition and employs approximately 800 workers during peak construction.

Construction of the Dieng Unit 2 geothermal power plant, with a capacity of 55 MW, officially started on December 29, 2025, and is expected to be completed by March 28, 2028. The project, managed by PT Geo Dipa Energi and EPC contractor JO Timas Rekayasa Engineering, has achieved 15.03% progress, exceeding its 14.1% target.
It is part of a national initiative to generate 100 GW of renewable energy, with an investment of approximately US$ 350 million. The project is projected to employ 800 workers, with a minimum of 20% local labor and 20% female workers.
The Ministry of Finance has allocated Rp1.3 trillion in state capital investment to support this initiative. Successful completion could enhance Indonesia's renewable energy capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
