CSIRO Launches AU$3 Million Upgrade to Renewable Energy Integration Facility for V2G Testing
POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION
CSIRO has upgraded its Renewable Energy Integration Facility in Newcastle with a AU$3 million investment, enhancing its testing capabilities for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology and other renewable energy systems. The facility can now simulate microgrids, grid faults, and perform large-scale experiments with solar, batteries, and EVs.
This upgrade responds to the momentum in Australia's V2G sector, including calls for national subsidies for V2G chargers. The facility supports innovations in EV charging, renewable energy integration, and grid stability. It coincides with a AU$16.1 million investment by the New South Wales government in EV charging infrastructure.
