Daldrup & Söhne to Execute Deep Geothermal Drilling for MTU in Munich with Project Valued at €17 Million
Daldrup & Söhne is conducting two geothermal drillings for MTU in Munich as part of a €17 million project. The new Geothermal Acceleration Act facilitates faster approvals and reduces risks for municipalities, which could significantly boost demand for geothermal projects by 2030. The company anticipates high water temperatures and plans to execute further drilling over the next 2.5 years. The project is part of a broader trend towards increased geothermal energy utilization in Germany, supported by legislative changes and funding from KfW.

Daldrup & Söhne is executing two geothermal drillings in Munich for MTU, valued at approximately €17 million. The Geothermal Acceleration Act, passed in late 2025, streamlines approval processes for geothermal projects, reducing risks associated with dry wells through insurance solutions.
Daldrup is set to undertake seven additional deep drilling projects in Pullach Süd and Baierbrunn, reaching depths of 5,100 meters over 2.5 years. The expected water temperatures of 122 to 142 degrees Celsius will support environmentally friendly heating. The company’s record order backlog of €140 million positions it well for growth, with the potential for demand to increase by 100-200% by 2030.
