Defense for Children International - Palestine Ceases Operations Amid Israeli Restrictions
Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCIP) has halted operations after 35 years, citing operational challenges stemming from Israeli regulations on human rights organizations. This closure follows a series of restrictions imposed by Israel on NGOs, which have been linked to accusations of supporting terrorism.

Defense for Children International - Palestine (DCIP) announced its closure on April 7, 2026. The organization faced operational challenges attributed to Israeli regulations affecting international NGOs, including a December 2025 directive that mandated 37 organizations to cease operations unless they complied with new registration rules.
DCIP had been designated a terrorist organization by Israel in October 2021, along with five other NGOs, based on claims of connections to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Following the closure announcement, all recurring donations to DCIP were canceled, and any remaining funds are to be transferred to another Palestinian organization focused on children's rights. The implications of this closure may exacerbate humanitarian challenges faced by Palestinian children amid ongoing conflict and restrictions.
