Diamond Foundry to Invest €1 Billion in Zaragoza for Synthetic Diamond Wafer Manufacturing Plant
Diamond Foundry, a U.S. multinational, will invest €1 billion to establish a synthetic diamond wafer manufacturing plant in Zaragoza, creating 200 to 300 high-skilled jobs. The facility will be located in the Empresarium industrial park, previously owned by Becton Dickinson.
The plant is expected to commence operations in 2025 and will focus on cutting and polishing synthetic diamond wafers for high-performance semiconductors. This investment is supported by the Spanish government, which has allocated €752 million through SEPI Digital as part of the Perte Chip initiative aimed at enhancing microelectronics and semiconductor capabilities in Spain.
The overall project investment reaches €2.35 billion, positioning Spain as a key player in critical semiconductor material production. Diamond Foundry has started recruiting technical staff for the Zaragoza facility.
