Dominica's Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit confirmed that the 10 MW geothermal power plant in Laudat will be commissioned by the end of March. The project, with a budget of US$34.8 million, has undergone successful testing and aims to serve approximately 23,000 homes.

This facility, developed over 15 years, will be the first geothermal plant in CARICOM and the second in the OECS. The project is part of the OECS Decade of Action for Sustainable Energy Development, promoting renewable energy sources to meet regional targets by 2035. Dominica is also a participant in the OECS GEOBUILD Programme, supported by the Caribbean Development Bank.
