East Williamson County Higher Education Center Expansion Milestone Celebrated with New Manufacturing Technology Center
On February 17, officials marked the topping out of a 70,000-square-foot expansion at the East Williamson County Higher Education Center. The facility will serve Texas State Technical College in Hutto, focusing on semiconductor, industrial systems, and precision machining training programs. The $47 million project is set to open in spring 2027 and received a $3.5 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund to support the Accelerated Semiconductor Technician Training program.

The East Williamson County Higher Education Center expansion reached a milestone on February 17 with the topping out of a new 70,000-square-foot building. This facility will function as a manufacturing technology center for Texas State Technical College in Hutto, offering training in semiconductor, industrial systems, and precision machining technology.
The project, costing approximately $47 million, is scheduled to open in spring 2027. The Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund provided a $3.5 million grant for the development of the Accelerated Semiconductor Technician Training program. This initiative aims to enhance the skilled labor workforce in Central Texas.
