Eastern Niagara Farms Receive $1 Million for Climate Resilient Initiatives
Three farms in eastern Niagara County will share over $1 million from the state for climate-resilient projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing sustainability. The funding, part of the Climate Resilient Farming Grant program, supports practices that improve water quality and soil health.

Three farms in eastern Niagara County, including Chaffee Farms, Mc-B's Farm, and Treetop Acres, are awarded a combined $1.1 million from the state's Climate Resilient Farming Grant program. Chaffee Farms will receive $867,000 to implement methane capture systems, projected to cut emissions by 13,653 metric tons of CO2 equivalent annually.
Mc-B's Farm received $53,800 to adopt sheep grazing, aiming to reduce emissions by 30 metric tons of CO2 equivalent per year. Treetop Acres will utilize $175,500 for a solar irrigation project, with an expected reduction of 9 metric tons of CO2 equivalent yearly. These projects highlight the agricultural sector's response to climate change challenges.
