ECoR and Paradip Port Achieve Record Freight and Cargo Throughput in FY 2025-26
East Coast Railway reported a freight loading of 286.3 MT, marking a 27 MT increase year-over-year, while Paradip Port achieved 156.45 MMT, its highest-ever cargo throughput. These milestones underscore robust operational performance in India's transportation sector.

In fiscal year 2025-26, East Coast Railway (ECoR) handled 286.3 MT of freight, a 27 MT increase from 259.25 MT the previous year, generating ₹29,456.60 crore in freight revenues, up from ₹26,691.82 crore. ECoR accounted for 17.1% of Indian Railways' total freight loading of 1669.9 MT and has surpassed 200 MT for seven consecutive years.
Concurrently, Paradip Port recorded a cargo throughput of 156.45 MMT, a 4.01% growth, and achieved its best financial performance, with a net surplus exceeding ₹2000 crore and an operating ratio of 31%. The port's productivity at 35,059 MT per day per berth is nearly double the national average, supported by strategic improvements and enhanced operational efficiencies.
Paradip Port is also expanding with projects aimed at sustainable growth, including a Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Export Terminal. The continuous rise in freight and cargo handling indicates a strengthening logistics sector in India.
