Edgefield County will not increase property taxes for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The budget is set at $18.5 million, reflecting a 9% increase from the previous year, primarily due to personnel costs. The county plans to use its reserve fund to cover a $1 million revenue gap. Additionally, discussions are underway for introducing impact fees for new developments, aimed at funding an EMS substation and other projects.

Edgefield County has announced no property tax increase for the fiscal year 2026-2027, maintaining a flat tax rate following last year's 16.25-mill increase. The county's general operating budget will be $18.5 million, a 9% rise due to personnel-related costs, including a 2.5% cost of living increase and a 5% rise in employee health insurance premiums.
To address a $1 million revenue gap, the county plans to utilize its reserve fund, which will remain at $6.3 million post-transfer. Additionally, impact fees for new developments are being considered to fund an EMS substation and other capital projects, with plans for an ordinance in the Merriwether and County Line areas.
