Egypt Invests EGP 26.5bn to Upgrade Power Transmission Network in FY2025
Egypt is investing EGP 26.5bn in FY2024/2025 to modernize its power transmission network, enhance efficiency, and integrate renewable energy. The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy aims to ensure stable electricity while upgrading the grid to support growing renewable capacity. The investments focus on new transmission lines, transformer substations, and operational expansions, with renewable sources expected to reach 42% of installed capacity by 2030.

Egypt is investing approximately EGP 26.5bn in FY2024/2025 to upgrade its power transmission network, as stated by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. This initiative aims to enhance grid efficiency and integrate renewable energy sources, ensuring continuous electricity availability.
The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) reported that the investments will modernize substations and transmission lines, with current capacities at 230,000 MVA and 61,000 kilometers of lines. Renewable energy now constitutes about 14% of the grid's capacity, with a target of 42% by 2030. The government is also strengthening interconnections with Jordan, Libya, and Sudan, and advancing projects with Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Italy.
