Eindhoven Plans 5,400 New Student Apartments to Address Housing Shortage
Eindhoven city authorities plan to build around 5,400 new student apartments over the next eight years to alleviate the ongoing housing shortage for students. This initiative involves partnerships with local educational institutions and housing corporations. The project aims to close the housing gap and is critical for attracting talent to the region, particularly in light of the booming semiconductor sector.

Eindhoven city officials have announced plans to construct approximately 5,400 new student apartments within eight years to mitigate the city's severe student housing shortage. This initiative is among the largest expansions of student housing in the Netherlands, responding to a growing student population.
The project includes collaborations with Eindhoven University of Technology, Fontys Universities of Applied Sciences, and housing corporations Woonbedrijf and Vestide. Identified sites include 1,000 units on Dorgelolaan, 130 at the former VGZ building, and several others across the city. The housing units will be gradually developed, with a focus on supporting the local talent needs driven by the semiconductor sector.
