Electricity was restored to Al-Ma'sara in Renk County, Upper Nile State, after a nearly year-long outage caused by repeated transformer malfunctions. Renk is linked to the public power grid from the Sudan Ad-Damazin electrification project.
To avoid future outages, the Electricity Authority will connect Al-Ma'sara to three transformers. Currently, one is operational, with two more on the way. The infrastructure challenges include a shortage of concrete poles, leading to the use of iron and wooden poles, negatively impacting power stability. Plans are also in place to remove unauthorized connections and replace temporary poles with concrete ones.
