POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION
ESB Networks has proposed a new 38kV substation at Killygarry, located in Cavan Business & Technology Park. The new facility aims to increase transformer capacity by 20 MVA, addressing the demand surge from population growth and new developments.
Current substations provide 30 MVA, nearly reaching capacity. The project will cover nearly two hectares and include two high-capacity transformers and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology. Construction is expected to last 70 weeks if approved, with a decision by March 19. Environmental surveys indicated no protected species on site.
