EU Technical Assistance for Hydrogen Valley Project in Portugal
Portugal's Icodos Luso Eco Fuels project in Aveiro secures EU technical assistance to develop green hydrogen initiatives. This is part of the EU's goal to accelerate hydrogen ecosystem development across Europe, aiming for 50 operational hydrogen valleys by 2030.

The Icodos Luso Eco Fuels project in Santa Maria da Feira has been selected for technical assistance from the EU, aimed at enhancing hydrogen ecosystem development. This assistance, commencing in September 2026, will include specialized support from Roland Berger and Worley, focusing on commercial, technical, regulatory, and governance aspects to facilitate a future investment decision.
The project was one of 13 chosen from 23 applications across 12 countries during the second call of the Project Development Assistance (PDA) program. Currently, Portugal ranks third in Europe for operational hydrogen valleys, with six projects, and aims to expand its contributions to the EU's hydrogen goals amidst increasing global activity.
