Export-Import Bank of China Supports 15 Years of Rural Power Grid Development in Cambodia
Over 15 years, the Export-Import Bank of China has financed rural power grid development in Cambodia, supporting over 10,000 km of medium voltage lines. This initiative, recognized as a Best Practice in international energy cooperation, has connected 251,000 households, reduced electricity prices, and facilitated renewable energy integration. The project employed innovative financing models and involved training for sustainable operation and maintenance.

The Export-Import Bank of China has financed rural power grid development in Cambodia for 15 years, implementing a phased approach that delivered over 10,000 kilometers of medium voltage transmission lines. This initiative increased rural electrification, connecting 251,000 households and lowering electricity costs from USD 1/kWh to USD 0.2/kWh.
The project, recognized as a Best Practice by China's National Energy Administration, utilized innovative financing and technology. With stable funding from export buyer's credit and Cambodian government support, it has created over 1,000 construction jobs and will sustain approximately 450 long-term positions post-completion.
