Fiddler's Ferry Cooling Towers Demolition Approved for Late 2026
Warrington Council has sanctioned the demolition of four remaining cooling towers at Fiddler's Ferry, scheduled for late 2026. The redevelopment will create an 860-home community with supporting infrastructure.

Peel NRE's plan for the demolition of the final four cooling towers at Fiddler's Ferry has received approval from Warrington Council. This project is part of an 18-month demolition initiative that began three years ago, which already saw the removal of four towers in late 2023.
The future site will host 860 homes, a primary school, a health center, and 4 million square feet of employment space. Asbestos removal and de-planting activities are currently being conducted by DSM Demolition.
Additionally, TITAN Group will convert waste ash from the site into low-carbon cement, suggesting a movement towards more sustainable building practices. The transition from an energy site to a residential area may have implications for local employment and infrastructure needs.
