First Gen Celebrates 50 Years of EDC, Launches Unified Brand for Renewable Energy Leadership
First Gen Corporation celebrated the 50th anniversary of its subsidiary, Energy Development Corporation (EDC), a major player in geothermal energy in the Philippines. EDC, founded in 1976, has been pivotal in reducing reliance on imported oil. The company also introduced a unified brand, First Gen Group, integrating its renewable energy assets and solutions under one identity, aiming to enhance clarity and responsiveness to market needs. First Gen plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio by 9,000 MW by 2030 across the Philippines and Indonesia.

First Gen Corporation marked the 50th anniversary of its subsidiary, Energy Development Corporation (EDC), a leading geothermal producer. EDC, established on March 5, 1976, has played a crucial role in the Philippines' geothermal energy sector.
In 2007, EDC became a subsidiary of First Gen. To commemorate this milestone, First Gen launched a unified brand, First Gen Group, consolidating its renewable energy assets into 'First Gen Renewables' and aligning its operations with market demands. The company aims for a 9,000 MW increase in its renewable energy portfolio by 2030, with ongoing projects in the Philippines and Indonesia.
