First Gen Signs 1.3MW Geothermal Supply Agreement with Eastern Communications in the Philippines
Filipino firm First Gen has secured a 1.3MW geothermal energy supply deal with Eastern Communications to power its headquarters and technical operation centers. The energy will be sourced from First Gen's Unified Leyte generating plants. This partnership is facilitated by the Philippine government's Retail Competition and Open Access program, allowing businesses to negotiate directly with power suppliers for energy rates.

First Gen has signed a deal to provide Eastern Communications with 1.3MW of geothermal energy from its Unified Leyte generating plants in Tongonan and Kananga, Leyte. This supply will power Eastern Communications' headquarters and technical operation centers.
The partnership is enabled by the Philippine government's Retail Competition and Open Access program, allowing large electricity consumers to contract directly with power suppliers. First Gen, the Philippines' largest renewable energy developer, targets a generation capacity of 13GW by 2030 and operates 13 geothermal power stations with a total capacity of 1,189.34MW.
