First Movers Coalition Reports Growth and Commitment to Low-Carbon Technologies by 2026
The First Movers Coalition (FMC), an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF), released its annual Impact Brief for 2026, reporting an expansion to 101 members and 14 government partners by the end of 2025. The coalition has committed over US$19 billion in demand for low-carbon products by 2030, aiming to achieve net-zero goals and reduce 26 million tonnes of CO2 emissions through over 130 agreements.
Progress is noted across sectors: ELYSIS in aluminium has advanced inert anode technology; Maersk launched its first methanol-enabled vessel; SSAB introduced its near-zero SSAB Zero™ product; and electric fleets were launched by SSAB and PepsiCo. The Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) sector is moving towards market solutions, with Microsoft and Google signing significant agreements. Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) are gaining traction, but challenges remain in supply and production costs.
