Fraunhofer AISEC Joins OpenTitan as Security Testing Partner
Fraunhofer AISEC has been designated as a security testing partner in the OpenTitan project, enhancing its open-source silicon security. This collaboration aims to validate OpenTitan's resilience against sophisticated attacks through rigorous hardware evaluations.

Fraunhofer AISEC officially joins the OpenTitan project to support the evaluation of its silicon designs, including the Earl Grey architecture. The partnership will involve rigorous testing methodologies from Fraunhofer's Hardware Security Lab, focusing on physical resilience against attacks.
Collaboration with Google, lowRISC, and Nuvoton has already led to improvements in OpenTitan's security through pre-deployment evaluations. The integration of advanced testing techniques will ensure that OpenTitan maintains high security assurance levels while addressing emerging technologies like post-quantum cryptography. This initiative is bolstered by funding from APECS and the Trusted Electronic Bavaria Center, which aim to strengthen the European semiconductor supply chain.
