Gander Robotics Secures $1.1M Pre-Seed Funding for Autonomous Rescue Technology

The investment, co-led by Impellent Ventures and Underscore VC, will enhance Gander's capabilities in addressing critical rescue challenges in the defense sector.

Gander Robotics has completed a $1.1 million pre-seed funding round to advance its autonomous rescue technology. The company, focused on maritime operations, was co-founded by Michael Autery, a U.S. Navy veteran, and Lael Ayala, a Harvard-trained roboticist, and originated from MIT Sloan.
Their flagship product, the Autonomous Rescue Swimmer (ARS), employs AI-powered sonar to locate victims in challenging conditions and provides essential rescue tools. The low survival rates for overboard personnel in the U.S.
Navy and cruise industry underscore the urgency of Gander's mission. The funding will expedite prototype development and expand Gander's engagement with defense and commercial maritime sectors, addressing life-threatening situations effectively.
