Gas Tanker GAS HELENA Delivers 2,030 Metric Tons to Baniyas Port
The arrival of the GAS HELENA tanker at Baniyas Port aims to bolster gas supply stability in Syria, addressing ongoing shortages. The Syrian Petroleum Company is enhancing unloading operations while additional tankers await to support domestic demand amid economic challenges.

The GAS HELENA tanker has delivered approximately 2,030 metric tons of gas to the Syrian Petroleum Company's terminal in Baniyas. Unloading commenced following the completion of technical procedures, with further tankers queued to ensure consistent supply amid ongoing shortages across Syria.
The country is currently grappling with increased household gas prices and availability issues, particularly in regions such as Damascus, Aleppo, and Daraa. The Syrian Ministry of Energy indicated that weather-related disruptions had previously impacted gas deliveries, while economic experts cited structural problems, limited production, and the effects of war and sanctions as key contributors to the crisis. To counteract these challenges, Syria plans to double natural gas production to 15 million cubic meters per day this year, aiming for enhanced energy security.
