Germany's Reverion Develops Reversible Power Plants for Biogas Injection
Germany's Reverion has developed reversible power plants capable of producing hydrogen and synthetic methane from biogas, boasting an efficiency exceeding 70%. This innovation comes as the French government plans to end contracts for cogeneration biogas electricity by September 2025, promoting biogas injection instead. Currently marketed in Germany, Reverion aims to expand its technology across Europe.

The French government will cease contracts for cogeneration biogas electricity as of September 8, 2025, favoring biogas injection into the network. This new regulation allows for an exemption from penalties for early termination of cogeneration contracts if converted to injection.
Reverion, a German company, has developed reversible power plants with a capacity of 500 kW that can produce hydrogen and synthetic methane from biogas. The efficiency of Reverion's system exceeds 70%, surpassing traditional cogeneration units, and it is currently marketed only in Germany, with plans for expansion in Europe.
