GlobalWafers Opens New Semiconductor Facility in Sherman, Texas Utilizing Kingspan IMPs
GlobalWafers has established a new silicon wafer manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, the first of its kind in over 20 years. The facility, designed by Page Southerland Page, incorporates 261,635 square feet of QuadCore Optimo panels and 7,793 square feet of QuadCore KS Micro Rib panels from Kingspan, enhancing thermal efficiency and design aesthetics. The project, completed in May 2025, will create over 1,500 jobs and support the local economy, reflecting the growing domestic semiconductor production in the U.S.

GlobalWafers has built a new 261,635 square feet silicon wafer manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, marking the first such facility in the U.S. in over 20 years. The project utilizes Kingspan's insulated metal panels (IMPs), specifically 261,635 square feet of QuadCore Optimo panels and 7,793 square feet of QuadCore KS Micro Rib panels, selected for their thermal efficiency and design flexibility.
Completed in May 2025, the facility will create more than 1,500 jobs and contribute to the local economy. The integration of IMPs expedited construction, allowing for rapid enclosure and quicker interior work commencement, ultimately supporting the expansion of the semiconductor market.
