Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has mandated the restoration of electricity services in Yei Town after a technical assessment of the Yei Electricity Corporation (YECO). A state ad-hoc committee, led by John Bullen of the Ministry of Housing, Lands, and Public Utilities, submitted a report evaluating the facility's condition after years offline due to conflict.

Yei was the first town in South Sudan to have a public power grid, inaugurated on October 1, 2009, with support from USAID. Governor Adil underscored the need for reliable power to aid socio-economic recovery in Yei River County.
