Grant PUD to Expand Mountain View Substation in Quincy for Transmission Capacity Increase
Grant County Public Utility District plans a major expansion of its Mountain View Substation in Quincy to enhance transmission capacity and reliability. The project has received a Determination of Non-Significance under the State Environmental Policy Act. Construction is set to begin on May 20, 2026, and finish by November 24, 2027. The expansion will enable the substation to serve up to 650 megawatts of load.

Grant County Public Utility District will expand its Mountain View Substation in Quincy to boost transmission capacity and reliability. This expansion is part of the Quincy Transmission Expansion Plan and received a Determination of Non-Significance on February 9, indicating no significant environmental impact.
The project involves expanding the substation yard, installing 42 new 230-kilovolt breakers, and related infrastructure. Construction is scheduled from May 20, 2026, to November 24, 2027. Excavation of 4,180 cubic yards of soil is planned, with minimal long-term operational noise expected. The expansion supports an additional capacity of 650 megawatts.
