Green Iron SA Advances Iron Ore Export Pathway at Port Pirie
Green Iron SA has conducted an engineering assessment outlining an iron ore export pathway at Port Pirie. The concept utilizes existing infrastructure for exporting iron ore concentrate, which is essential for green iron production. It includes measures to mitigate community impacts, such as dust and noise reduction. The consortium backing the project includes Flinders Ports, Aurizon, GHD, CSL Australia, and Magnetite Mines, and is set to advance pending further approvals and stakeholder engagement.

Green Iron SA has completed a high-level engineering assessment for an iron ore export pathway at Port Pirie, detailing a configuration that facilitates the export of iron ore concentrate through Flinders Ports' Berth 7. The plan prioritizes community impact reduction measures, including dust and noise mitigation.
The integrated export configuration links rail receival and storage with near-port transfer and offshore transhipment in Spencer Gulf. Supported by consortium members including Flinders Ports and Aurizon, the project will proceed with further technical and economic modeling, approvals, and stakeholder engagement.
