Green Tech International Launches €200 Million Geothermal Heating Project in Bucharest

Green Tech International has commenced a €200 million investment to modernize Bucharest's district heating system through geothermal energy. The project will connect existing geothermal wells to a new plant, producing over 595 GWh of thermal energy annually with a capacity of 70 MW.

This initiative will cut carbon emissions by 127,000 tons per year. The company has also applied for support from the EU's Modernisation Fund. Green Tech is in talks with local authorities in Timișoara and Oradea regarding additional geothermal projects. Furthermore, its subsidiary Horti Green Invest has secured an environmental permit for a geothermal hydroponic greenhouse complex in Timiș county.
