Grimaldi Invests €1.3 Billion in New Ro-Pax Vessels to Enhance Decarbonization
Grupo Grimaldi has announced a €1.3 billion investment in nine next-generation ro-pax vessels, set to enhance maritime decarbonization and support economic growth. Scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2030, these vessels will utilize dual propulsion with methanol and aim to reduce CO₂ emissions by over 50%. The company's Spanish subsidiary, Trasmed, reported strong financial performance in 2025, reflecting the effectiveness of its modernization and environmental strategies.

Grupo Grimaldi has confirmed an investment exceeding €1.3 billion for the construction of nine next-generation ro-pax vessels, aimed at accelerating maritime decarbonization and sustaining the company's economic growth. The vessels, to be added to the fleet between 2027 and 2030, will feature dual propulsion with methanol, low-friction silicone coatings, and shore power connection capabilities, targeting a reduction of over 50% in CO₂ emissions per transported unit.
Trasmed, a Spanish shipping subsidiary of Grupo Grimaldi, reported a significant improvement in financial performance in 2025, achieving nearly 14% revenue growth and a 90% increase in EBITDA, with financial leverage reduced to €26.5 million. The group has also introduced new PCTC ammonia-ready vessels and expanded its multipurpose fleet, maintaining a long-term strategy for modernizing operations and reducing environmental impact.
