Gujarat Gas Revives Morbi Ceramic Industry with Enhanced Gas Supply Agreements
Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) has facilitated the revival of the Morbi ceramic industry by increasing gas supply amid operational disruptions. This initiative is crucial for restoring employment for over 200,000 workers and stabilizing production in the region.

Gujarat Gas Limited has proactively sourced natural gas from non-Middle East markets to address supply disruptions affecting the Morbi ceramic industry. Following the temporary closure of manufacturing units in mid-March 2026, impacting more than 200,000 workers, GGL engaged with industry stakeholders, including the Morbi Ceramic Association, to ensure gas availability and pricing stability.
As of April 22, 2026, gas consumption in Morbi surged from 0.36 mmscmd supporting 83 units to nearly 2.70 mmscmd for about 290 units. Projections indicate operational units could rise to between 675 and 700 by May 2026, with total consumption potentially reaching 6 to 7 mmscmd. The renewed supply agreements are expected to restore employment and accelerate production recovery, with additional PNG connections being set up for canteen facilities within manufacturing units.
