Hafnia and Socatra have delivered the ECOMAR GIRONDE, the final vessel in their four-ship ECOMAR newbuilding program. This 49,800-dwt dual-fuel, methanol-capable Chemical IMO II Medium-Range tanker was constructed at Guangzhou Shipyard International in China.
The ECOMAR series, which includes the ECOMAR GASCOGNE, ECOMAR GARONNE, and ECOMAR GUYENNE, is time-charted to TotalEnergies for a multi-year period. The vessels are designed to operate on conventional fuel while being ready for methanol as fuel infrastructure develops.
The naming ceremony took place on 27 January at GSI Shipyard, attended by representatives from Hafnia, Socatra, TotalEnergies, and other stakeholders. The project builds on Hafnia's long-standing relationship with GSI and BRS, with over a dozen years of collaboration and 24 vessels delivered since 2013.
