Hamilton Fire Department Donates Surplus Trucks to Indigenous Communities in Ontario
Two surplus fire trucks will enhance emergency response capabilities in Indigenous communities in Ontario. This initiative reflects Hamilton Fire Department's commitment to Indigenous support and reconciliation efforts.

The Hamilton Fire Department is donating two surplus fire trucks, valued between $15,000 and $30,000 each, to Indigenous communities in Ontario, namely the National Indigenous Fire Safety Council (NIFSC) and the Independent First Nations Alliance (IFNA). These vehicles, Ladder 90 and Pump 27, have completed a 25-year service life but remain operational.
The donation was approved by Hamilton City Council on June 4, part of ongoing efforts to support Indigenous communities and advance Truth and Reconciliation. The Hamilton Fire Department has previously donated trucks to other Indigenous groups and communities in need, demonstrating a consistent commitment to supporting emergency services.
