Hanwha Power Partners with Pembina Pipeline for Low-Carbon Power Generation
Hanwha Power has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pembina Pipeline to develop waste heat recovery systems in North America. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in the region's midstream market.

Hanwha Power and Pembina Pipeline Corporation have entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding to collaborate on a low-carbon power generation project targeting the North American midstream sector. The focus is on deploying waste heat recovery (WHR) systems at Pembina's compressor stations, leveraging supercritical carbon dioxide technology to enhance energy efficiency while minimizing carbon emissions.
This partnership aligns with Hanwha's strategic approach linked to the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project, aiming to integrate advanced energy technologies into Canada's industrial ecosystem. The collaboration will assess pilot projects for WHR systems, which promise improved performance and reduced resource consumption compared to traditional methods. Expanding in the North American market presents both opportunities for Hanwha Power and enhanced operational efficiencies for Pembina, contributing to sustainability goals.
