Hermeus Relocates Headquarters to El Segundo to Advance Hypersonic Aircraft Development
Hermeus, a hypersonic aircraft startup valued at $1 billion, is moving its headquarters from Atlanta to El Segundo. This relocation signifies the growth of Southern California as a center for aerospace innovation and aims to enhance military capabilities through advanced autonomous hypersonic aircraft.

Hermeus is relocating its headquarters to El Segundo from Atlanta, with a goal of developing autonomous hypersonic aircraft for military applications. The company, which recently completed a $350 million funding round, will operate from a 67,000-square-foot facility and employ over 200 people by next year.
Hermeus aims to build a supersonic plane capable of Mach 3 and eventually develop a hypersonic aircraft reaching Mach 5, leveraging the engineering talent available in Southern California. The move reflects the increasing concentration of aerospace companies in El Segundo, home to over 40 firms. As hypersonic technology matures, competition from countries like China and Russia continues to heighten strategic defense concerns.
