HES International and North Atlantic Initiate Hydrogen Import Route via Wilhelmshaven
HES International and North Atlantic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a hydrogen import route utilizing LOHC technology through Wilhelmshaven. This strategic partnership aims to enhance Europe's hydrogen economy, supporting the transition to sustainable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions in Germany and beyond.

HES International and Canadian firm North Atlantic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a hydrogen import route through Wilhelmshaven using Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology. The agreement, signed in Berlin, indicates a significant step towards establishing Wilhelmshaven as a key hub for Europe's hydrogen economy.
HES will evaluate how existing infrastructure at the port can be adapted for effective hydrogen import, storage, and distribution. This initiative is expected to facilitate substantial hydrogen imports to Europe, enhancing energy transition efforts and promoting economic resilience in Wilhelmshaven. The LOHC technology is positioned as a promising solution for safe and efficient hydrogen transport, leveraging Wilhelmshaven's deep-water access.
