Himachal Pradesh aims to achieve over 90% of its energy demand from renewable sources by 2026, with a focus on harnessing geothermal energy in Kullu and Mandi districts. Himachal Pradesh plans to become a Green Energy State by 2026, targeting over 90% of its energy demand from renewable sources. The state has significant geothermal potential, particularly in Kullu and Mandi districts, where surface temperatures range from 57 to 97 degrees Celsius. The government aims to utilize geothermal energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and wood, power remote villages, and enhance local tourism through geothermal spas and wellness centers. The initiative is part of the 'Vyavastha Parivartan' framework for sustainable energy development, ensuring 24/7 reliable electricity supply and promoting eco-tourism and local employment in the sector.
