Hungary to Purchase $500 Million in US Oil Following VP Vance's Visit
Hungary plans to acquire $500 million worth of US oil, confirmed by MOL, its state oil company, shortly after VP Vance's visit. This move aims to diversify energy sources amid upcoming elections and strengthen US-Hungary relations.

Hungary has announced a $500 million purchase of US oil, with MOL set to acquire 510,000 tons in the coming weeks. This decision follows a visit by US Vice President J.D. Vance, who expressed support for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
The agreement is part of efforts to diversify Hungary's energy supply and enhance US-Hungary relations. Previously, Orbán had agreed to a $400 million deal for US LNG and a $114 million contract for nuclear fuel.
Hungary remains reliant on Russian energy, blocking a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine due to disruptions in the Druzhba pipeline caused by conflict. Upcoming elections may impact Orbán's position amid challenges from opposition parties.
